A warm cup of aromatic coffee in hand, perhaps a lover’s palm in the other, one can simply sit and gaze for hours at the ever-changing views in front, below, above and around. Perched high on a ridge facing the valley of Chiang Mai, with Mae Taeng’s flat basin leading up towards the majestic heights of Chiang Dao, Mon Jam is the newest offering from His Majesty the King’s Nong Hoy Royal Project.
A charming open-aired bamboo kitchen and dining area serves up fusion cuisine from only the freshest of the Royal Project’s products as well as a selection of herbal tea, fruit juices, beers and wines. You can wander around exploring the project, its strawberry fields and glass houses, or simply drink in the incredible views.
Charming private camping compounds come complete with tents, electricity, private showers – with hot water no less! – and a private sala. This is also a terrific venue for parties, for a romantic getaway, for private contemplation, for a family day out…
A small tent for two costs 800 baht, while a big tent for four costs 1,200 baht (with a 50% discount if you go without breakfast), but make sure you book in advance. Delicious food starts at a very satisfactory 50 baht a dish and if you wish to bring your own drinks, there is no corkage charge, but they ask you to purchase your mixers from their restaurant.
