CityNews – The Siam Commercial Bank on Chotana road was broken into at 3am on October 25 by two robbers who tied up and beat the security guard before failing to find any money and escaping empty handed.
Chiang Mai police were informed of the robbery attempt and managed to identify two men wearing black hoods and black gloves on CCTV. Two suspects were later arrested but then released without charge.
The security guard, 48-year-old Pornprom Duangkeawmoon, told police the two men approached him wielding a gun and a metal rod. They then beat him and tied both his hands and feet and threw him into the bushes behind the bank. They asked for his keys to the bank but he told them he didn’t have them. He was then beaten again before the robbers scaled the building and broke into the third floor.
According to the guard and CCTV footage, the two suspects spent around one hour in the bank but then left empty handed after failing to find any money.
