Chili Village
As Chinese tourism in Chiang Mai increases, we are seeing a growing number of Chinese restaurants popping up – which means more yum for all of us! One of the most notable new arrivals is Chili Village, where you will find authentic Szechuan cuisine at its boldest and most brilliant. Here, there’s no sign of the typical bland and greasy dishes that you may have come to expect from Chinese fare. Instead, you’ll discover a refreshing array of spicy and savoury cuisine, made with quality ingredients and cooked up by expert Chinese chefs. Much like Thailand, the climate in Szechuan is hot and humid, leading to a similar (and seemingly counterintuitive, but somehow it works) pattern of hot and spicy food, meant to counteract the hot climate. From the double-cooked pork to the spicy tofu Szechuan-style to the spicy braised pork soup, all dishes hover under 200 baht and are packed full of flavour. The staff is friendly, the chefs are experienced, and everything is made fresh to order.
