CityNews – The International Association of Print Media contacted Citylife recently to offer our friendly volunteer photographer Steve Yarnold, a Mr. Congeniality award.
“In a world of ruthless paparazzi and fake news, it is our honour to extend this recognition to a truly great embodiment of the craft of photography,” said Steff Falstaff, Chairman of the Association. “Our committee looked at media all over the world and have recognised that this photographer has not only been an asset to the trade, but a remarkably integral part of the city he covers. His hard work and dedication in attending and recording for posterity, the social goings on of Chiang Mai city, are to be commended. Our online survey also showed that he had a total of one million votes; more than any other social photographer in the world.”
“It is incredible,” said Pim Kemasingki, Editor of Citylife on behalf of a shy Yarnold, who wishes to remain behind the lens. “That he received a million votes, when our city has less than half that number shows that people from all over the world have appreciated the photo albums we upload on our site each and every day. Steve goes to as many as twenty events each day which is remarkable, though with cost of petrol these days, we are grateful for this award and the 2,000 baht cash that comes with it.”
“No comment,” said Yarnold, before adding with a grin, “one more please.”
