The Covid response centre press announcement today confirmed that 144 prisoners plus two guards at the Chiang Mai Central Prison have tested positive. A ‘Bubble and Seal’ team from Samut Sakorn has arrived to help contain the contagion and they believe that they will be able to do so within 28 days.
A total of 144 prisoners, of the total prison population of 6,404 have tested positive and a field hospital is being set up specifically for prison inmates, say authorities, who say that there will be no spread into the general population.
According to the announcement, all positive patients contracted the virus from the newly arrived batch of prisoners who arrived between the 7th and 12th April.
