The medical team at the International Convention Centre’s field hospital is dismantling equipment and beginning to prepare to close down the field hospital, said the Covid Response Centre today.
The hospital will no longer be taking in new patients as of the 6th of December, due to the slowing down of the spread of the virus, explained the centre.
There are currently 60 patients labelled ‘yellow’ status (mild symptoms) in the field hospital.
Four patients labelled ‘orange’ (concerning symptoms) have all been moved to hospitals and there are currently zero patients in the field hospital’s ICU ward.
The field hospital first opened to Covid-positive people in April of this year, closing again in June when the situation became more stable and reopening in July when numbers surged.
Since the opening of the field hospital a total of nearly 30,000 people have been admitted. Not one medical professional or member of staff contracted the virus from the patients, said the director of the field hospital, going on to say that he was very satisfied at the quality and standards of operation.
Today a further 179 people tested positive in the province with three more dying of the virus. The total deaths in Chiang Mai since the start of the pandemic is 130.
