CityNews – Police arrested a 16-year-old boy from Lamphun after a number of temples had reported donation boxes stolen.
Over the last few months, temples have had donation boxes and other valuable items stolen at night time.
After reporting to the police, one temple provided CCTV footage that captured a young boy stealing the donation box.
The 16-year-old boy was then traced and arrested. He admitted to his crime and told police that he did it with his friends. He has already spent the stolen money on entertainment and playing video games.
According to police investigations, the boy is believed to have stolen up to 40,000 baht in donation money from several temples in Chiang Mai and Lamphun.
He awaits prosecution.
