On March 28, 2025, tremors were felt throughout the entire province, fortunately, there were no reported injuries or fatalities. However, damage was noted in 23 districts, impacting 79 sub-districts, 224 houses, 4 tall buildings, 32 temples, ancient sites, and pagodas, as well as 7 schools and 15 hospitals. Inspections of 1,177 bridges and 15 underpasses revealed no damage.
Among 39 important buildings inspected, 3 were found to have structural issues, including cracked walls and peeling plaster. These include the Chiang Mai Juvenile and Family Court and two condominiums. Additionally, 3 buildings—a school, a condominium, and a residence—were deemed structurally unsafe and are currently prohibited from use. Eight other buildings are still under inspection.
At Wat Chedi Luang Worawihan, cracks were discovered in the inner walls of the nearly century-old structure, while no damage was found in the 80-meter tall white pagoda.
