CityNews – On June 21st, it was announced that the San Sai Luang District is to be a control zone for the contagious Zika virus for 28 days.
There has been a report of two children in the San Sai Luang District with an infection of the virus, a 9-year-old girl and 11-year-old boy, both of whom were hospitalised at at Lanna Hospital but are said to be getting better at home.
In addition, Pawin Chamniprasart, Chiang Mai Governor was informed that there were seven more people in Petchaboon Province with a rash from being infected by the Zika virus. In response, Governor Pawin has designated a control zone for the Zika virus at San Sai Luang District, in hopes to dimish the spread of the virus.
Pregnant women need to be aware of the Zika virus because it can have harmful effects on the fetus.
