CityNews – On 11th a January, authorities held a meeting to plan the official kickoff of the fight against the annual forest fire and burning season which will officially be launched on 30th January and which will include a number of activities throughout the North of Thailand.
This year’s budget will be released at the end of this month and authorities are planning for a three-pronged approach to the perennial problem: firstly, there will be exhibitions held by ten organisations to campaign against burning, secondly there will be drills and practices to train response teams and lastly both government and civic groups are to be mobilised and utilised.
Authorities are reaching out to all community and village leaders asking them for cooperation and will also be meting out punishments to all violators.
