CityNews – 25th December 2019, Amornrat Chumsai Na Ayuddhaya, director of Chiang Mai airport (CNX) said that the airport would increase surveillance for safety around the compound during New Year festival. AOT will also send staff to visit souvenir shops that sell chili pastes and liquid items about appropriate packaging as many gifts are currently being confiscated.

The CNX director also mentioned that on 31st December 2019, those who have asked permission to release flying lanterns, strictly follow the Thailand aviation act regarding safety of flying carriers.
The airport will be loading with various organizations as to how to manage the increase in passengers.
