CityNews – Chiang Mai is preparing for its annual “Lumyai Festival”, which this year will take place at Tha Pae Gate from July 30 to August 2.
The region is famed for its abundance of lumyai – or longan – trees and orchards, and the fruit is harvested at this time of year. The festival will see all things lumyai on sale, including fresh fruit, souvenirs and other foods.
The festival is presented by the Chiang Mai Agriculture Bureau and the 33rd Military Circle.
Organisers say the majority of vendors will be from the local area, creating a true sense of community and celebration for one of the North’s most succulent fruits.
