Panlop Saejiew, the President of the Chiang Mai Tourism Association told CityNews that he expects the Chiang Mai economy to receive a large boost over the Songkran, with a projected 500 million baht entering the local economy.
There will be around 168 flights per day arriving at Chiang Mai International Airport, with 36 being international flights to Chiang Mai. The numbers of arrivals will average around 23,000 people per day.
Pre Songkran arrivals averaged around 21,000 people on 154 fights.
