The Chiang Mai Tourism Association has announced that hotels across Chiang Mai have been reporting that rooms this month are nearly all booked, with most hotels reporting occupancy at 90%.
The President of the Upper Northern Hotel Association told CityNews that tourism in Chiang Mai has been robust since the start of the year and numbers are expected to remain high through February with over 90% of the association’s registered 25,000 hotel rooms having been booked.
Many tourists will be coming for the Chinese New Year which starts on the 10th of February.
Currently around 60% of hotel rooms have also been booked for Songkran, and the association expects this number to rapidly rise to near full occupancy as the Thai New Year approaches.
