Mae Sa Elephant, photographed here, is among numerous elephants camps across Chiang Mai now having to find blankets and light fires close to their elderly and infirm elephants, as temperatures drop to single digits this week.
Elephants, mainly really old elephants, have been seen shivering in the cold and mahouts as well as camps and all carers are stepping up heating efforts.
