Mainly young Israeli tourists, and travellers from other nationalities too, say Pai police, have been causing disturbances to the local communities and police say that they will now step up measures to protect the daily lives of Pai citizens.  Following a couple of disruptive incidents recently, with Israeli tourists making a nuisance at Pai hospital, smoking marijuana on the streets, crashing motorbikes and making loud noises when tuning down Pai River, tourist police say they have now talked to the 84 marijuana businesses remaining, insisting that they control their clientele.

According to police, five marijuana businesses have closed this past year, four on their own, with one being shut down for non compliance. Of the remaining, police will now be conducting routine checks to ensure they don’t allow smoking on premises and that they tell their clients not to smoke in public.

Tubers will also be rerouted to avoid disturbing communities.
