CityNews – Chiang Mai police visit Pongyang Zipline and Jungle Coaster to check the safety of the rides after three people were injured three weeks ago, causing the centre to temporary close and re-open with ‘better’ safety standards.

Commander of the Chiang Mai Police Station visited the centre on April 25 to inspect whether the improvements were substantial to keep the centre open.

The visit comes after stricter laws regarding safety at entertainment centres have been passed.

The conclusion was that Pongyang Zipline and Jungle Coaster is “within safe standard levels” and may remain open.

The owner of the centre, Aranya Taran added that the safety standards and building standards of the zipline and jungle coaster are based on German safety standards.

The police commander suggested that there should be longer gaps between coasters leaving the docking bay and that cameras should be kept off the ride to keep it from falling, getting lost or distracting the riders.

Despite being in the clear, the centre still accepts responsibility for the incident three weeks ago when three people were injured riding the jungle coaster.
