Shangri-La Chiang Mai proudly unveils its newest culinary offering, “The Hive-Ternoon Tea”, the city’s first-ever beehive-inspired afternoon tea. Designed to delight the senses while promoting eco-conscious dining, this unique experience is a collaboration with 99 Hives, a local initiative supporting bee conservation and sustainable agriculture.
Thoughtfully curated by Chef Guillaume Comparat, the afternoon tea set features a refined assortment of sweet and savory delights crafted using premium locally sourced ingredients from across Chiang Mai and beyond. Highlights include:
- 100% organic honey and blackberries from Mae Rim
- Organic tea from Araksa Tea Garden in Mae Taeng
- Single-origin chocolate from Skugga Estate in Mae On
- Artisanal cheese from Jartisann Cheeserie in Hang Dong
- Sticky rice cultivated by the Lahu tribe
- Free-range organic chicken from Klong Phai Farm
- Natural vanilla from Sam’s Vanilla in Saraburi
Each item is delicately prepared to showcase the richness of local flavors while supporting local farmers, artisans, and sustainable food systems.
More than just an afternoon tea, The Hive-Ternoon Tea is part of a wider movement toward environmental sustainability. Through its partnership with 99 Hives, Shangri-La Chiang Mai helps support local beekeepers, encourage eco-friendly dining practices, and foster biodiversity within the hotel’s own garden—home to stingless bees, locally known in Northern Thailand as “Phueng Mim”, which play a vital role in urban ecosystems and pollination.
