Visakha Bucha Buddhist day tomorrow

Flower markets are doing a brisk trade this week as many worshipers prepare floral offerings to take to the temple tomorrow, Visakha Bucha Day.

Visakha Bucha day is the first major Buddhist festival of the year, taking place on a full moon day on the third lunar month. It celebrates the day when 1,250 of Lord Buddha’s disciples were ordained as monks, thus able to first spreading Buddhism far and wide.

Tomorrow (22nd) morning, there will be a procession up Doi Suthep, starting in the morning, all are welcome to join the estimated 50,000 or so people who will be making the pilgrimage.
