CityNews – Late last month, May 29, the instillation of two disabled-access toilets was completed at the homes of two elderly women in Mae Ka, both unable to walk.
An anonymous local donor provided most of the funds needed to complete the project, with extra funds and materials provided by the Omakua Foundation.
Local labourers also contributed by providing labour free of charge.
The two toilets were built as extensions to the elderly women’s homes, meaning they no longer needed to leave their homes to use the toilet.
The work has been described as life changing for the two women and a photo gallery of what was achieved can be seen below.
