CityNews – The Chiang Mai Provincial Public Health Office has hosted a campaign to raise awareness of dengue fever prevention and control, aiming to build networks between government and private sectors who work to combat the disease.
The event, held at the Hang Don Municipality, was presided over by Dr Surasing Wisarutrat, the deputy head of Chiang Mai Provincial Public Health Office.
It also aimed at developing cooperation in preventing dengue fever and to promote Hang Dong receiving an award for being a district free from dengue fever.
Trophies and money was also presented to 18 villages, six temples and six schools for being free of mosquito larvae.
According to Dr Surasing, the statistics in 2014 showed that there were 789 patients suffering from dengue fever from 23 districts. There was also one was reported death.
So far this year no deaths have been reported but 85 patients have been diagnosed with the fever.
