CityNews – A Chiang Mai man feared to be carrying the MERS virus has been given the all clear after fears the disease could come into Thailand given the outbreak in South Korea over the last month.
A 20-year-old man who arrived in Chiang Mai with a high fever was feared to have the MERS virus after traveling from South Korea.
He was escorted to a local hospital and was tested for the disease.
However, according to Dr Surasing Wisarutrat, after being confined and examined in detail, the man was not diagnosed with MERS, but influenza.
Many instituted involved with tourists and overseas travellers in Chiang Mai still strictly monitor people, especially at the Chiang Mai International Airport, in order to prevent the MERS virus spreading into Chiang Mai and the rest of the kingdom.
