CityNews – Over 100 tonnes of waste has been collected every day during the Songkran festival, according to the Chiang Mai Municipality.
On April 17th, a municipality spokesperson told reporters that over 100 tonnes of waste has been collected each day across the city during the Songkran Festival. Black plastic bags and piles of waste were strewn across the city, with trash collectors complaining about an increase of at least three times the amount of waste to be collected.
The local authorities revealed that many illegal dumps cropped up across the city, even near the railroad where trash was carelessly dumped across the road.
