CityNews – Military officers have launched a campaign to begin to combat forest fire.
The director of the Forest Fire and Haze Prevention and Mitigation Centre accompanied by military officers has announced a campaign in aid of combatting forest fire in areas across northern Thailand that are at risk. Fire fighting teams have been assigned and are scheduled to practice on January 21st. Over 70 officers will be providing vehicles to assist in the task. Since December 1st, the office has held over a 70 meetings with local authorities and citizens to develop understanding and work on the approach to prevent fire. There have been reportedly 17 hands-on practices, such as building up check dams and firebreaks in many areas.
