Officials have thoroughly searched areas in Mah Fah Luang District and remained unsuccessful. The boy has been presumed dead as he has been missing for more than 48 hours. His parents managed to rescue his twin brother before he was lost in the strong current.

The boy is believed to be the second death caused by the flooding that has hit Northern Thailand. Four provinces – Chiang Rai, Nan, Phayao, and Tak – are experiencing flash floods and heavy storms.

In Chiang Rai, floods have affected 1,377 families across 6 districts. Four districts in Phayao province have also been affected, with 2,603 families being given aid.

The Royal Thai Army says they have enlisted 860 officers to help areas affected by flooding across the northern region, Khao Sod reported.
