CityNews – 12th March 2019, the haze has enveloped the city over the past two days to the point that Doi Suthep is hardly an outline on the horizon.
According to AirVisual, PM 2.5 level has risen to over 200 in some areas including Hang Dong, Chang Puak, Saraphi and the old city reaching critical level. The satellite VIIRS also found 824 hotspots across the northern region, which 121 of them are in Chiang Mai. Today, the city as the worst air quality in the world on AirVisual rank. (Though this ranking is problematic and up to debate.)
