CityNews – A woman driver rammed an airport security guard with her vehicle after being upset over an overdue parking ticket.
On the evening of August 20th, police responded to a report of a multiple car crash at the Chiang Mai International Airport with a casualty at the scene. The casualty was a 27 year old airport security guard who suffered from broken bones, internal bruising and severe injuries on his left leg. An interview with witnesses revealed that the driver, who was later identified as Patra Boonchaloew, 69, was charged for illegal parking by the victim, after parking on the drop-off only zone. The airport claimed that an announcement was made to notify the driver but she failed to show up. That was when her wheel was clamped and a ticket issued.
The driver was allegedly upset over being ticketed, accelerated and hit the victim with her car before trying to flee the scene, and crashing into four other cars along the way. She was stopped by witnesses about 50 metres from the crash spot. The driver was brought to the police station after the incident.
According to police report, the driver claimed she suffered from dementia.
Today, the Security MAI International Co. Ltd., the victim’s employer, is gathering CCTV records as evidence to support their claim that the driver deliberately hit the victim. The security guard is still in coma.
