Since the relocation of the Chiang Mai Immigration Office last month from Promenada Mall to its current location near the Chiang Mai International Airport, there have been complaints about the service, stressing on long queue, waiting time, and the new space. Pol.Gen. Punlob Suriyakun na Ayutthaya, the acting superintendent of Chiang Mai Immigration Office, announced that the office is working on solving the issue. He explained that currently, there is an officer on duty starting at midnight to check on early visitors and urge them to return home. The office opens at 4am for those who wish to start the queue and will officially operate at 6am. He explained that the office will deny processing documents for those who miss the queue and if the person waiting in queue is not the applicant.
He revealed that the office is handing 700 to 1,000 applicants per day and is trying to process them within a day. A mobile service is reportedly planned which will be stationed at the universities.
