CityNews – 27th April 2020, Chom Thong residents rejoiced at the sight of water gushing down Doi Inthanon into Mae Klang river, following months of drought.
With two to three days of heavy rains in the area, vast amounts of water began rushing down the mountains, replenishing supplied that had long run dry. For over one month now the Mae Klang river has been completely dry.
As to the Irrigation Department, they have reported that there are four large mega projects currently underway to better manage water resources in the future, with the main one being the water tunnel to connect Mae Kuang and Mae Ngad dams. All projects are currently at around 40-50% completion.
