CityNews – The Chiang Mai Municipality has given an order to cease the construction of Wat Chedi Luang’s new pavilion.
Following complaints about a recently built pavilion that has been criticised for overshadowing the sacred city pillar and other heritage buildings, today, April 26th, The Chiang Mai Municipality went to inspect the scene and gave an order to cease the construction.
Chiang Mai Municipality refuted the claim stated by the temple that the office has no say in the decision making process as the construction is in a private area. However, the permission for construction, said officials, must be filed at the municipality, which the temple has failed to do.
The Chiang Mai Municipality also gave an order to put up a sign informing visitors about the construction for safety concerns.
