CityNews – A new transit route, named B3, was officially launched on July 7th at Arcade Bus Terminal which will run from Arcade Bus Terminal to Chiang Mai Provincial Government Centre.
Chiang Mai has had a number of public bus routes since 2016, using small 23 seat buses running two routes, B1 (from Arcade Bus Terminal to Chiang Mai Zoo) and B2 (from Arcade Bus Terminal to Chiang Mai International Airport)
Following the success of the two routes, a new route that will travel between Arcade and City Hall has been opened.
The B3 route will run from Arcade Bus Terminal, passing Chiang Mai Rajabhat University and the International Exhibition and Convention Centre before arriving at Chiang Mai Provincial Government Centre (City Hall).
According to the Chiang Mai Municipality, since the bus routes were introduced to the city, 44,670 less cars are on the roads since the project started.
As the Chiang Mai population has been increasing rapidly, the bus routes are expected to help reduce traffic especially during the rush hours.
