CityNews –Chiang Mai’s newest smart bus is officially scheduled to launch on April 5th.
After the free trial run in March, the R3 smart bus by Regional Transit Cooperation (RTC) is scheduled to launch full operations on April 5th. The bus route will start at Chiang Mai International Airport with stations in Nimmanhaemin area and the old city.
The bus will be scheduled every 20 minutes and will take 15 – 25 minutes to get to Nimmanhaemin and 35 minutes to Tha Pae Gate from the starting point at the Airport.
The bus will run from 6am to midnight during April and May. All buses are WiFi ready, and there will be a flat fee of 20 baht for any destination on the route, which can be paid by both cash and smart card.
The smart card is provided by Rabbit, the same smart card that is used on the BTS and Phuket’s smart bus.
