Chiang Mai has announced its latest drive towards getting the population fully vaccinated: ‘Pull your sleeve up for the third time to receive visiting relatives’.
Deputy governor of Chiang Mai visited the inoculation centre at Central Plaza Chiang Mai Airport yesterday to oversee the drive which aims to encourage relatives and friends to safely come to visit Chiang Mai over Songkran.
Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca vaccinations are all available to all citizens.
“I am here getting my first jab,” said Rapheepun Muankwan, 83, from Loei, who came to Chiang Mai especially for the injection.
“I wasn’t worried about myself and didn’t feel the need before, but now that my family wants to come visit over Songkran for the first time in years, I need to do this.”
The deputy governor told CityNews that with the current spread of Omricon surging across the country, he wishes the public would take precautions so that they are at low risk of serious illness.
“It is important, now that people are going to soon begin to travel home across the country, that the most vulnerable, such as the elderly, are vaccinated.”
