Indian Consul Visits Juvenile and Family Court
July 6
The Indian Consul to Chiang Mai, Krishna Chaitanya visited Chiang Mai Juvenile and Family Court
Chiang Mai Juvenile and Family Court has a very apt quote of Mahatma Gandhi displayed on a portrait of him in its Conciliation Room: “I realized that the true function of a lawyer was to unite parties riven asunder. The lesson was so indelibly burnt into me that a larger part of my time during the twenty years of my practice as a lawyer was occupied in bringing about private compromises of hundreds of cases. I lost nothing thereby – not even money, certainly not my soul.” The quote based on his work as a lawyer in South Africa, is from Gandhi’s My Experiments with Truth : An Autobiography (Part II, Chapter 14). [ ] Yesterday, a copy of Thai translation of the Autobiography was presented by Consul of India Krishna Chaitanya to the Honourable Chief Judge of Chiang Mai Juvenile and Family Court Mr Chayadhorn Cheablam. He also presented a copy of the Thai translation of Constitution of India to the Honourable Chief Judge. Court Conciliator Taran Pal Singh Chawla and representatives from Indian Community in Chiang Mai were also present on the occasion.
