New U.S. Consulate General Ground Breaking Ceremony

The U.S. Consul to Chiang Mai Sean O’Neill welcomed H.E. Ambassador Michael George DeSombre (U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand), H.E. Ambassador Vijavat Isarabhakdi (Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs), and Charoenrit Sanguansat (Governor of Chiang Mai) to take part in the ground breaking ceremony of the new U.S. Consulate General Compound. The new U.S. Consulate General Compound is located in the Chiang Mai Business Park on the Super Highway (next to Index Living Mall). Targeted for completion in 2023, the United States will spend USD $284 million on this project and employ over 400 local workers to build its new Consulate.
