Pee Mai Muang Chiang Mai Festival Press Conference

Mr. Assanee Buranupakorn, Mayor of Chiang Mai Municipality, held a press conference for the preparations of “Pee Mai Muang Chiang Mai Festival 2025” (Chiang Mai Songkran Festival). Mayor Assanee Buranupakorn, invited both Thai and international tourists to participate in the celebration of the “Pee Mai Muang Chiang Mai Festival 2025,” which will be held during April 7th-16th, 2025 under the theme of “Serving Joy, Splashing Fun: Chiang Mai’s Colorful Songkran Festival”. The festival is aimed on promoting the region’s beauty of enchanting local traditions, regarded as an essential part of Chiang Mai for over 729 years. It is also recognized as one of the world’s major festival and also known as a Soft Power that attracts millions of tourists to Chiang Mai and Thailand each year.
Chiang Mai Municipality has set out to host this event to preserve the richness of Lanna arts, culture, and traditions, as well as to enhance the local economy and tourism. Tourists are cordially invited to the highlight events during this festival such as procession of the Phra Buddha Sihing and other significant Buddha statues, Lanna cultural performances, and the traditional Songkran water splashing. In addition to the mentioned activities, tourists could also enjoy water tunnels and live music performances along Tha Phae Road (which attracts great number of enthusiasm last year), along with various cultural events. This year, it is expected that a large number of both Thai and international tourists will visit Chiang Mai during the festival. Chiang Mai Municipality hopes that visitors will not only enjoy the water festivities safely, but also learn and understand our culture. Moreover, we also hope that the warm welcome of Chiang Mai residents could ensure a memorable experience for our guests from across the globe during the upcoming ” Pee Mai Muang Chiang Mai Festival 2025″

April 13 Alms-giving ceremony on Pa Weni Day / Chiang Mai New Year 7am – 8am at ThaPae Gate // Opening Ceremony of Pa Weni Pi Mai Chiang Mai Festival at Thapae Gate at 8.09am // Lady Riding a Bicycle Contest 09.30am – 12.00 noon at Thapae Gate Square // Water Blessing Ceremony and Procession of Important Buddha Images at 14.09pm from San Pa Khoi Intersection To Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan // Mr & Miss Songkran competition at Thapae Gate from 6pm onwards
