What is the Museum of Broken Relationships?

The Museum of Broken Relationships is an original internationally acclaimed museum founded by artists Olinka Vištica and Dražen Grubišić. Its mission is to provide both virtual and physical spaces that connect people globally through stories of love and loss. Since its debut as an art installation in Zagreb, Croatia in April 2006, the Museum has toured 68 cities across 35 countries,

The Museum’s collection, built through community contributions, consists of approximately 3,500 objects donated by individuals from around the world. Each item is a symbolic memento of a past relationship, accompanied by an anonymous story from the donor.

A New Chapter in Chiang Mai

Today, the Museum proudly announces the opening of its second permanent location in Chiang Mai, Thailand, set to open its doors on November 7, 2024 (RSVP) and open to the public on November 8, 2024. The museum is open daily from 10:00 to 22:00 For visitors who want to be a part of the museum, They are open to donations of objects from past relationships that reflect the journey of life and relationships, goodbyes, and memories.

The museum in Chiang Mai is the result of a collaborative effort with several esteemed partners. The exhibition was curated by Charlotte Fuentes and Piyathida Inta, while the design was brought to life by STA Studio under the expertise of Petra Tikulin and Asrin Sanguanwongwan. The visual identity and graphic design were thoughtfully developed by Nuphap Aunyanuphap Tar and his Graphic Design Unit Studio. These collaborations were crucial in creating a space that is not only welcoming but also profoundly resonant for both local and international visitors. 

With the opening of its second permanent location in Chiang Mai, Thailand, in November 2024, the Museum continues its journey of connecting hearts across the globe. Despite its suggestive title, the Museum is filled with hope, life, resilience, and inspiration—qualities elegantly embodied in its collection, offering stories that resonate with every visitor.
