TAT Launches “San Kamphaeng Onsen Festival #1”

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) proudly invites everyone to experience the debut “San Kamphaeng Onsen Festival #1,” held from January 24 to 26, 2025, at the San Kamphaeng Hot Springs, Mae On District, Chiang Mai. Under the theme “Nature Therapy at San Kamphaeng,” this festival redefines quality relaxation by harmonizing wellness, community traditions, and sustainability.

Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of TAT, highlighted that the San Kamphaeng Onsen Festival #1 aims to promote health and wellness tourism, a burgeoning trend among both local and international travelers. The event will showcase diverse health-focused tourism products and services, aligned with TAT’s “5 Must-Do in Thailand” strategy, particularly emphasizing the “Must Try” dimension. The initiative seeks to encourage inter-regional travel from central Thailand to the north, offering visitors not only unforgettable experiences but also fostering local economic growth and sustainable tourism.

Festival Highlights

The festival features a variety of zones designed to suit all lifestyles, especially for wellness enthusiasts and those seeking unique experiences:

Wellness Activities:

  • Zone1:Explore Wellness Tourism at SanKamphaeng & Beyond
    Discover curated wellness routes from local communities, including the Coffee Journey, introducing the rich world of local coffee, health products by local entrepreneurs, and highlights connecting nature and local culture.
  • Zone2:Demonstrations & Hands-OnHealthExperiences
    Engage in holistic health care through traditional Thai massage and savor the unique flavors of On Tai local cuisine, known for its nutritional value and distinctive taste.
  • Zone3: Inspiring Workshops
    Learn the art of blending coffee with special beans from the renowned Thepsadej coffee plantations.
  • Zon4: IceBath Therapy
    Experience the invigorating benefits of ice bath therapy with mineral-rich spring water, designed to refresh and rejuvenate both body and mind.

Community Engagement:

  • Muang Kung Community: Participate in pottery demonstrations, showcasing unique crafting techniques from molding to intricate designs.
  • Ban Rai Kong King Community: Experience “Yam Khang” (traditional foot massage using heated tools) and “Yang Khae” (herbal fire therapy), which alleviate aches and promote relaxation.

The festival will also feature booths selling wellness products and renowned local cuisine, as well as captivating musical performances, including an opening concert on January 24, 2025, by award-winning students from Yupparaj Wittayalai School, Chiang Mai. Other musical highlights include:

  • January 25: Ben Murakami and Friends, Mirokurus, Nat (The Voice), Una Kanta, Drum Circle
  • January 26: Wuthichai and Friends, Bamboo Ba, Ming (The Voice), Nu Groove, Drum Circle
