Sometimes we write these hotel reviews and actually get jealous that we have our own houses to go back to each night, as we don’t get a chance to experience all the awesome sleeping options there are in our city.
Home Chiang Mai Hotel
An extraordinary find in the no-longer-slummy Santitham neighbourhood, this is a self-proclaimed lifestyle hotel designed by millennials for millennials, with an impressive concept of connecting visitors with the local community. The toweringly high ceiling greenhouse-industrial design bathes the hotel in a bright natural light and the mixture of guests and local patrons, makes the lobby slash café slash workspace an interesting space to hang out in. Clean minimally but stylishly designed, each room is comfortable and different enough to offer a few experiences, whether it’s the Zen room or the more artistic and eclectic rooms. There’s a huge koi fish pond that could easily be mistaken for a swimming pool where visitors can spend time listening to the sounds of the fountain gurgling all day long. Food is served on a long table so that you can’t help but connect with locals or visitors, a unique place to lay down your hat for those seeking something a little different.

Lanna Oriental Hotel
This latest four star hotel in the old city sits on two whopping rai of land. The design concept is a convergence between Lanna and Western colonial influences. Expected to be completed this April, the hotel will offer guests 55 accommodations with five types of rooms that are specifically designed for a variety of preferences. The hotel will offer full service facilities including a coffee shop, spa and fitness centre while also opening a space for rent. For this hotel, it is all about location, as it’s only a stone’s throw away from shops, cafés, temples and other popular destinations such as the night market.

Baiyoke Ciao
Famous for its grilled chicken, the tiny shop in Nagoya, Japan, has expanded to over 65 branches across Japan, Hong Kong and Thailand, and one of them is now right here in Nimmanhaemin. The bright and awfully big yellow restaurant sign is hard to miss, and ignore, but tucked away behind it all is a little-known hotel with 31 spacious rooms, some so large they are virtually apartments. Bright and clean, there are three types of rooms including a 44 sq m. studio suite, a 56 sq. m. one bed room suite, and a vast double bedroom that has separate bathrooms for up to four persons. A good place to stay at seriously affordable rates right in the heart of Nimman.
