While it certainly doesn’t feel like winter, we know it’s just around the corner.

Once the rains end, the city is cleaned into sparkling glory and the winter winds descend, we will officially be in the festive Winter Season.

And to that end, 137 Pillars House Hotel has already prepared for a fantastic high season with a spanking new menu launched at their award-winning Palette Restaurant.

The six course Chef’s Tasting Menu features some of the best and freshest locally sourced produced found in Chiang Mai and further afield, as the hotel’s chefs work to highlight and honour the amazingly fresh and varied produce coming out of farms and fields across Thailand.

From October of this year until January of next year, diners at Palette Restaurant, an elegant and sexy dining room in the old teak building, which sits on all of its 137 pillars, will be feasted to an exciting food experience.

Start off with an amuse bouche of tuna tataki with caper, shallots, mustard, lemon zest and tartare sauce, served perfectly seared and as an even perfect bite.

Next, warm up to a wholesome bowl of creamy potato and parsnip soup, good for the body and the soul.

Next, refresh the palette with a Parma ham, melon, cucumber and greens salad served with honey dressing, highlighting some of the most beloved fruits and vegetables found in the winter months in the hills of Northern Thailand.

The palette is then thoroughly cleansed with a sharp but sweet strawberry sorbet, prepping it for the courses to come.

Then diners must make a choice between the roasted Pomfret with anchovy and shallots-caper butter sauce, served grilled to crispy perfection on the skin-side and tender and flakey on the meat side and the beef tenderloin with sautéed vegetables, potato gnocchi with rich red wine jus.

And, as all good things, the meal comes to an end with aplomb! Dig into the sweet and refreshing strawberry shortcake layers with fresh cream and fresh strawberries.

This stunning six course Chef’s Tasting Menu will cost 1,500++ per person, including coffee and tea.
