For over 60 years Rosyiam Noodle Shop served up their delicious beef noodles to the hungry and happy diners of Chiang Mai. With rich broth, fine cuts of beef and a consistent flavour for well over half a century, Rosyiam Noodle Shop is legendary amongst Chiang Mai noodle lovers.
Now, with the third generation of the family all grown up, Ko, the grandson of the original noodle shop vendor, has opened up his own restaurant and bar.
Set in a little soi off the Night Bazaar, Ko has renovated an old house and turned it into a charming little eatery serving up numerous beef dishes in a comprehensive menu which includes many non-beef dishes as well.
Ko’s family are great food lovers, over the decades, regularly holding cook offs at home amongst family members to come up with creative new dishes and flavours.
It is this casual and creative style of dining which Ko is now introducing to his new Rosyiam Bar.
“Our open house concept is casual and inviting,” Ko told Citylife. “We want our guests to come in the evenings and sample a plethora of dishes of high quality, many featuring my grandfather’s famous stewed beef which have then been developed into a variety of new dishes.
Behind the bar counter is a small open kitchen where Ko works his magic, interacting with guests in a family and friendly manner.
As to beef dishes, there are Japanese style fried beef, Korean style beef tartare with raw egg, stewed beef tongue fried with garlic and butter, and many other tasty delights.
If you are not a beef lover, you can still indulge in all sorts of inventive dishes such as grilled octopus with wasabi, giant oysters, tomatoes fried eggs as well as hot pots of shabu shabu.
A fun dining experience at a very reasonable price for friends and family.
