When thinking of fine French dining in Chiang Mai, for the past 46 years, Le Coq d’Or has been the destination of choice. Set in a house which dates over a century, and used to be the home of a British Consul, this spectacular restaurant and property has been serving up traditional French cuisine for nearly half a century. Get picked up in a London cab, arrive at the glittering restaurant where white-gloved and suited waiters will treat you to a special evening of classical live music, fine wines and some of the best food in town. Start off with a truffle soup, served in a tiny cup. This broth doesn’t hold its truffle punches and is the perfect taster before the lobster thermidor arrives, fresh, and oozing cheese. Or if you prefer something more carnivorous, try the chateaubriand béarnaise, tasty and cooked to perfection.
This is also truffle season, so if you love the aromatic shroom, try ordering the white truffle soup, a rare treat in our part of the world. And if you are feeling truly decadent, try the caviar set served with champagne, blini and accoutrements. Valentine’s is also just around the corner, so why not check out their Valentine Dinner Set which includes a glass of rose sparkling wine and some rich chocolate?
