The Ginger brand is a Chiang Mai success story, with franchises, restaurants and all sorts of projects popping up all over Thailand and beyond. Their latest venture is at Jing Jai Village, where the team has launched a small little restaurant called Kantoke Bar.
The concept is simple: tasty and properly authentic Northern Thai flavours served up in a no-frills, but very Insta-friendly setting, which makes for a perfect stop not just for tourists looking for authentic Northern flavours, but also locals seeing a bit of local grub.
Farm to table—from its very own Ginger Farm, of course.
Start with a kantoke, which arrives on the table, so you can sit on a proper chair! It comes with the typical selection of Northern delicacies that would be expected, but tastes much more familiar to local palates than what is found at many kantoke restaurants. Nam ngiew noodles, khao soi, a multitude of chili dips, grilled chicken, fried mushrooms and many dishes which pair perfectly with a tub of sticky rice can then be ordered. They have sets—large and small, as well as a la carte dishes and prices are very reasonable.
Enjoy lovely Northern Thai Cuisine without the pomp and ceremony of a full kantoke diner and in a casual and accessible setting in the heart of Jing Jai Market.
