Zenbu Kuro Yoshoku & Sushi Bar opened up with great fanfare last Friday, as media, foodies and guests were invited for an extravaganza of an opening that felt so post-pandemic it made us giddy!
Serving Japanese and fusion food omakase-style (the diner leaves the choice of dishes in the capable hands of the chef), each exquisitely crafted and presented dish was a crowd-pleaser. Course after course of artistically presented bites of quality Japanese cuisine arrived as diners indulged in a fine selection of top-shelf cocktails, craft beers, sakes, single malts and other spirits. The wine selection was also impressive and reasonably priced.
Fresh and quality raw ingredients from yellow-fin tuna to sea urchins, oysters and tuna are imported and mixed with locally grown produce to create innovative dishes such as the egg custard foie gras, snow crab and sushi rice, the mackerel, watermelon and berries with microgreens and kampot pepper, or the lobster tail, sweet potato, mirin and ricewine vinegar and passion fruit. Dish after dish of surprising fusion combinations and classical Japanese flavours arrive to tantalise the palate and tease the tastebuds. The entire experience is fun, surprising, tasty and something you just want to indulge in with friends who also enjoy the finer tastes of life.
