Set in the charming Tamarind Village Hotel, RuenTamarind Restaurant has long been a preferred destination for those looking for authentic Thai flavours. This cozy café-styles restaurant has recently been transformed to showcase Lanna and other regional cultures through classic decorative items such as sbai or phaa biang, a shawl-like garment worn by women in Laos, featured in a collection dating over 50 years old. These curative textiles are featured in a frame and displayed on the walls showing the distinctive art of Laotian weaving. Afghan cushions adorn with wooden chairs brighten up the atmosphere of the restaurant. Cushion covers match harmoniously with the furniture and overall interior design.
On top of the wonderful atmosphere of the restaurant is the sumptuous homemade organic Thai and northern Thai cuisine. After a meal, you can now sit back and chill by the pool, taking in the resplendent surroundings with a cocktail in your hand.
Below are several dishes selected by Tamarind Village’s chef:
Egg noodles in a rich curry broth with beef (Khao Soi Nuea). The aromatic curry broth and quality beef stew are a perfect combination of sweet, creamy, and mild spices. The Khao Soi is served with slices of lime, thinly sliced shallots, and tangy pickled cabbage.
Grilled sea bass fillet with curry in banana leaves is also recommended. This is a traditional Lanna dish made with sea bass and mixed with a unique aromatic herbal curry paste, wrapped in banana leaves, and grilled over low heat. A simply delicious feast!
Coriander Salad with Grilled Chicken is a unique dish that uses coriander as the main ingredient to enhance the flavor. It’s an absolutely delightful salad dish also consisting of grilled chicken marinated with lime juice, chilli, ginger, shallots topped with crispy pork skin and fried onions.
Paco Fern Salad with Prawns features the perfect balance of sweet, sour, and spicy, using only the freshest and most organic of herbs. This goes down perfectly with a cold drink.
Beef and Tomato Stir-Fry combines sweet and juicy beef with tomatoes – a simple and delicious dish that goes well with Jasmine rice.
These, and so many other tastes, along with the stunning surroundings, make an evening at Ruen Tamarind Restaurant an unforgettable experience.
