This rice noodle dish looks as though it packs a spicy punch, but is in fact a mild, almost sweet dish with a medley of flavours. The fresh coconut milk, the finely chopped shrimps, beans, roasted peanuts, fried shallots and garlic, fresh and boiled vegetables, and chili paste, all combine to make this classical lunch dish.
Each family or restaurant puts its own little twist to the dish by adding boiled eggs, morning glory or dried shrimps and Krua Ya’s kanom jeen nam prik has been popular for decades for its blending and balancing of ingredients.
