Who doesn’t love their mother’s cooking?
Here at Baan Mae Café & Restaurant Chiang Mai ร้านอาหารบ้านแม่ คาเฟ่ เชียงใหม่, which translates to mother’s house, favourite Thai dishes have been cooked with creativity and care just like mother’s cooking.
Generous use of produce and ingredients which are mostly locally sourced, traditional classic recipes with some international influences, superbly and painstakingly presented and filled with soul – all at very nice prices!
The spicy chilli paste with crab roe is spicy, sour, sweet and everything in between, but best of all, it is bursting with succulent crab meat. Then there is the umami flavours of coconut boiled sardines and lotus roots, a hard to find dish of old. The ripe mango salad with sun-dried fish and cashew nuts is another popular dish, as is the soft shell crab with salt and chili.
There are also lovely refreshing drinks to be had, as well as some international dishes such as the grand Baan Mae steak platter for two, bbq pork ribs, chicken breast, wagyu steak, mixed sausage and grilled prawns.
Missing the taste of home? This mama may not be serving up the same dishes as your mama would, but it’s still mama’s cooking!
