Chiang Mai is one of the leading health and wellness centres of South East Asia.
The city has excellent medical facilities. There is a choice of first-class international private hospitals in the city. The facilities are exceptionally well equipped and offer treatments at such highly competitive rates that they attract health tourists from around the world. Chiang Mai is also home to Maharaj Nakorn Hospital, a university teaching hospital, affiliated to the Faculty of Medicine of Chiang Mai University. It offers state-of-the-art technology and high-quality care. Traditional GPs and family health practitioners are less common but are on the increase and provide an alternative to outpatient hospital care. One of our favourite medical clinics is Boston Health Polyclinic that offer a wide range of services and have an amazing team of fluent English speaking staff.
Chiang Mai is a major centre for dental care. There are many high-quality dental clinics throughout the city. Many dentists have international qualifications and have equipped their surgeries with the latest technology. By international standards, dental care is very reasonably priced and ‘dental tourism’ is common. There are also plenty of cosmetic clinics in the city, offering a range of surgical and non-invasive aesthetic treatments.
Chiang Mai has an international reputation wellness centre. There are spas, retreats, clinics, alternative health practitioners and gurus of all kinds in both the city and surrounding region. There are endless choices, so if you are looking for something particular, it is probably here somewhere. These pages are an excellent place to start your search.
Thailand also has the only dedicated Trauma & Mental Health clinic in South East Asia, which is based in Krabi; this centre is run by Mike Miller, a former resident of Chiang Mai, and we greatly support the work that Mike and the team at Yatra Centre are doing.
