Makkha Health & Spa offers its customers with unique experiences and a variety of services together with exceptional design and atmosphere. There are three branches of Makkha Health and Spa: Ancient House, Colonial Gardens, and Night Bazaar. The first two branches are behind Phra Singh Temple, and close to Phra Singh Village, a charming city hotel with Thai and colonial style décor and architecture. All branches of Makkha Health & Spa offer similar variety of services.
Ancient House is set in a recently renovated traditional Lanna wooden home of over half a century, typical of those found in Chiang Mai city in the past. The wooden structure has been well preserved and brought to life in a respectful and careful way. Customers will feel an authentic Thai vibe as they walk into the two story wooden house which is designed to be a cosy cocoon where aromatic herbs soothe along with the low mood lighting and gentle music. This experience is for those really wanting to feel the traditional Thai hospitality and ambiance.
The Colonial Gardens branch is also set in a two story building, but that is where the similarity to Ancient House ends. This colonial style building is all about natural light, white interiors and green tropical foliage, the prominent green wall garden of Epipremnum aureum or Devil’s Ivy contrasts strikingly with the cool blue pool and white walls and ceilings. Sounds of trickling water is a constant and natural sunlight sends shafts through panes in the ceiling. This is a city spa which is elegant, modern and sophisticated.
Acceding to the concept laid down by Makkha’s owner, Sirawit Kumvongsa, the name Makkha itself reflects the origin of the idea of service to bring guests to peace and comfort. Makkha is from the word Mak, a Pali and Sanskrit derived word in Buddhism meaning noble (eightfold) path to liberation from samsara or painful earth.
All Makkha Spas use their own in-house brand, Wan Waan (www.WanWaanOfficial.com), in all treatments. Waan Waan products have been developed by Makkha laboratories, have passed all government approved requirements, and are carefully created to utilize the wonderful natural herbs and ingredients found locally, especially those with historically accepted medicinal benefits.
Makkha Spa’s third branch is set in the bustling heart of the Night Bazaar and offers a modern Zen vibe for shoppers and visitors seeking a respite from the busy streets. It is designed as a place to escape, to find harmony and relaxation, and to release stress. White and brown colours are used in the décor which is simple yet elegant, inviting and casual.
At all branches, sweet crispy rice crackers (Thai style) together with Beal juice is served to the customers before each massage or spa service; and after the treatment ends, the customers will be served with mango sticky rice and vanilla ice-cream. There is also a pickup and drop off service for customers within city limits.
