Cricketers and fans who are still sulking at having missed out on the popular annual Chiang Mai International Cricket Sixes, held every April for over 30 years at the Chiengmai Gymkhana Club, will be pleased to hear that a mini-tournament will be held later this month instead, called the Gymkhana Sixes, a tournament which will see local and national teams from across Thailand participate.

The tournament will be held from Friday 27th November to Sunday 29th November at the Chiengmai Gymkhana Club.

There will be 14 teams from Chiang Mai and other parts of Thailand competing:

Koh Chang
Rugby School 1
Rugby School 2
Shrewsbury school
Pattaya CC
Siam Parrotts
Phuket 1
Phuket 2
Lord Of The Beers
Lamphun Juniors
CMSCA
Lanna CC
Floggers and Robbers
The British Club

The ladies will also be playing, with the junior girls from Lamphun on Sunday competing between midday and 2pm.

The schedule has not been finalised yet . Play starts midday on Friday.

The rules will be the same as the Chiang Mai Sixes.

There will be food tents on Saturday and Sunday and a bar for the whole duration of the tournament.

There is a welcome function for the teams and supporters under the big tree at the Gymkhana Club on Friday from 6pm to 8pm

A bbq at the Irish pub for the teams on Saturday night from 6.30pm to 9pm. Teams will receive eight free tickets per team and for others it will cost 300 baht a head to join.

It is hoped that this event will be a fun and a good start to the cricket season, which, fingers crossed, will see the regular Sixes tournament return next year.
